Photos You Upload

How photos are handled, and what makes a good one.

What it is

Photos help you get picked — a clear profile picture, a shot of your storefront, or a couple of pictures of the work you need done. Every photo you upload is cleaned of hidden data and checked automatically before it goes live.

Where to find it

Profile → photo for your picture. Employers add job photos in the New Job wizard; projects take photos in the project wizard.

How it works

The moment you pick a photo, we strip the hidden data cameras attach to it — including the GPS location where it was taken — so uploading a picture never reveals where you live or work. We then check the image automatically. If it looks fine, it goes live right away.

What to expect

What makes a photo work well:

  • Good light and a clear subject — daylight beats a dark room.
  • For your profile: your face, looking at the camera, no sunglasses.
  • For a job or project: the actual place or the actual work, not a logo.
  • Keep phone numbers, emails, and handles out of the picture — chat stays in the app.
  • No pictures of children, and nothing anyone would call inappropriate.
